The Silent Witness
SWC40 Surveillance Camera

Camera Specifications
Camera Features
At Home
The Silent Witness can monitor the front door, driveway, backyard, foyer, or anywhere,
providing homeowners the ability to identify intruders. Simply being able
to know who was there while out is a great plus.
At the Office
By itself or working with the existing security system, Silent Witness can add the
power of video surveillance to any office, factory or retail location. Break-ins
and
after-hours incursions by employees can all be recorded as evidence.
In Access-Controlled Facilities
The Silent Witness can interface with virtually any access control system to provide a
recorded image of every person entering or leaving designated areas.
Features
Alarm System
When The Silent Witness is armed with the remote control, a 60-second countdown
starts that allows the user to leave the monitored area. A flashing LED located
on the front
faceplate informs the user that the countdown is in progress. After being armed
an alarm can be triggered
by the internal video motion detector or an external device such as a door contact. Once
the alarm is triggered the camera starts recording. An output is also available for
activating an external alarm or monitoring system. When an event has been recorded, the
LED flashes, signaling that video has been stored in memory.
Digital Video Recorder
Video is digitally recorded in a non-volatile memory that will not be lost upon
power failure. The user can set the image quality, frame rate (pictures
per second), and the recording time per event. Because the maximum recording time is more
than one hour, The Silent Witness eliminates the hassles of switching tapes and setting up
a VCR.
Digital Camera
A "still image" mode is available as a standard feature. In this mode, The
Silent Witness works as a digital camera that can save an image each time the trigger is
activated. Up to 1140 images can be saved in non-volatile memory. With its digital input
and output capability, The Silent Witness can also be interfaced to most access control
systems to capture an image each time an access is granted or denied.
Video Motion Detection
A Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in The Silent Witness is programmed to detect any
relevant changes in the image, and then trigger the video recording. To enhance the motion
detection, the image is divided into 16 tiles (4 by 4 grid) that can be independently
selected by the user. Unimportant motion such as pets or a ceiling fan can be ignored
simply by selecting the tiles in those areas of the scene. The user can also adjust the
detection sensitivity from an on-screen menu to disregard certain movements such as
blowing leaves.

Enclosure
The Silent Witness is an all-weather, environmentally sealed camera designed to be durable
enough for outdoor applications; its handsome appearance makes it ideal for indoor use as
well. The tough enclosure is made of fiberglass reinforced polycarbonate with a thick
Lexan lens window and is able to resist shocks, high-pressure spray, dust and vandal
attacks.
The camera is attached to a mounting base through a robust universal bracket that
conceals all the wiring and allows wall or ceiling mounting. The base houses the
connections to all external wiring. A removable front panel allows for easy access to the
keypad, video jack and provides the flexibility of changing lenses

Remote Control
Each camera is equipped with two wireless remote control keypads. The camera can be armed
or disarmed with a single press on the keypad's button. Unique digital codes for each
remote ensure that only authorized users can operate the camera. Up to 5 additional remote
controls can be programmed for each camera.
Intelligent Light Compensation
The Silent Witness includes proprietary Intelligent Light Compensation (ILC) technology.
As with the video motion detector, the image is divided into 16 selectable tiles. The user
selects the important areas of the scene, and the ILC algorithm will automatically adjust
the camera to provide the clearest possible image in those areas.
The Silent Witness also features the revolutionary concept of motion tracking
compensation. When enabled by the user, the ILC algorithm tracks objects moving in the
scene. The camera automatically adjusts to give the best possible picture of the moving
object.
On-screen Setup
All camera functions can be configured using an on-screen menu. In only a few minutes, any
configuration can be easily setup. Options include picture quality, recording time,
"digital camera" mode, time & date setting and positioning, motion detection
sensitivity, and area selection for light compensation and motion detection.
